Tank Truck

A Tank Truck (tanker, tanker truck) is a vehicle equipped with a tank and designed for transportation and temporary storage of liquids (oil products, food products), bulk cargo, liquified petroleum gas. Tanks have a single or multiply usage and are described by their volume capacity. Tanks are made from different materials such as steel, aluminum alloys, stainless steel or fiberglass. Black iron is used less and less. This is due to its high weight relative to aluminum alloy or stainless steel. Aluminum alloys are used in the manufacture of tanks for transportation of light oil products, stainless steel - food liquids, chemical liquids and etc. Tanks may be insulated or non-insulated also.

Large tank trucks (from 5,500 to 11,600 US gallons) are used on a long distances to carry gasoline or diesel fuel, milk and industrial chemicals. Small tank trucks, based on medium duty trucks, are commonly used for local usages like water tanks trucks, septic and vacuum trucks. Their maximum capacity is usually not higher than 3,000 US gallons.
