A step van (also called as Walk-In-Delivery van) looks like a big metal box on wheels. This van is designed for local delivery business special. In this case it has to be comfortable for continues walk-in and walk-out processes.
The step van has big tall slider doors so a driver or delivery man can walk in a van easy and fast. Also a step van/truck provides easy access to goods, mail and etc. from the passenger area and the driver’s seat. A van itself is usually built on a light 1/2 ton truck or heavy 2 ton truck chassis, but wheelbases are shorter or longer. A body is metal frame covered with aluminum or steel panels. There are simple flat windshield and door windows. Functionality triumphed over the design in this van.
Step vans are used by express delivery and postal services (such as UPS, FedEx and the US Postal Service), fast food restaurants, emergency services, even SWAT units and FBI. Some people buy used step vans and convert them into motor homes for travelling.
