It is currently titled and insured as a motorhome to save on plates and insurance. It doesn’t take much to meet the criteria and it’s cheaper. If you want to plate and insure it as a commercial truck you just tell them at the BMV. It’s not new or perfect but this things a work horse. I have rental properties and do some work for others too and this has been my toolbox/garage on wheels. It locks up securely and is dry inside. It has served me well for over 5 years. I’ve downsized to a cargo van now so I don’t need this anymore. It has 221,000 miles on the 5.7L (chevy 350) and still starts and runs well. It goes down the road great. Brakes are good to go, transmission is excellent but does leak a little at a connection, not bad. The engine runs great once up to temp, has a slight hesitation until warmed up not a big problem. The engine leaks oil from the rear main seal. It leaks a fair amount of oil too. Its a $10 part but you have to move the trans to swap the seal out. Probably a 4 hr job with 2 guys or you can do like me and just add oil and don’t park on anyone’s nice driveway. The power steering works great but has a growl to it. Something slowly drains the battery if it’s parked. It’s fine for a day, maybe two. Beyond that I use a "quick disconnect" on the battery (see picture) to make sure it doesn’t go dead. The truck has great heat, A/C doesn’t work. Tires are good for a while and I have a spare. They are the same size as ambulances so I easily found a matched set off one for only $40/ea tire mounted and balanced! Has the rear ramp which is super handy and can be used as a work table too (see pic). It has a trailer brake controller. It was originally a Penske rental truck and has the top speed limited electronically to 67 mph. The speedo is off 5 mph so max speed in reality is only 62 mph according to GPS. I googled it and it’s not easily bypassed or removed. 90% of my work was in town or on 55 mph roads so I didn’t notice it except interstates. That’s a thorough run down. It’s older with some miles, has some rust, etc but will make a great truck for contractor. I got 5 years and 15,000 miles out of it with very little in repairs and I think the next owner can do the same.
