It has power steering, and air assisted hydraulic brakes. M817s are extremely tough and durable and can carry very heavy loads over incredibly rough terrain. They are "overbuilt" and can easily exceed their designated weight capacities. The dump bed elevates steeply, nearly vertical. This specific M817 is in excellent condition mechanically, and body-wise. It comes with upgraded Goodyear 14.00R20 tubeless tires on super single wheels, with a full sized spare. The front tires are 70% tread, the rears 50%. In the recent past (3 years) it has had a freshened camo paint job, heavy duty tie down D rings welded in the dump bed, re-covered seats, new window seals. The brakes have newer pads and cylinders. There are newer belts and hoses. In the past year the truck received a brand new radiator, a rebuild on the air compressor, a new control box, and two new PC2250 Odyssey AGM batteries ($900) which spin the diesel like a top even when covered with snow. The dump bed is straight and clean with no rust. It has hard (metal) cab-top and hood both in good condition This is an extremely clean and functioning truck with low original miles (15,200). The M817 has been great for me on the ranch as it has no computer, no turbocharger, no "air-only" brakes, and no expensive/finicky automatic transmission to worry about (unlike the younger M917’s). Anything that comes up on the truck can much more easily be diagnosed and fixed, in remote areas, by the average diesel mechanic. The only known issues with the truck are a non-working temperature gauge, passenger door hard closing at times, tough windows to crank, air assisted windshield wipers need new hoses, and the bell crank for securing the tailgate needs a weld-repair.
